Cookies:

Pursuant to those applying in information technology and the definitions used by the European Union (https://ec.europa.eu/info/cookies_el), cookies are small text files that a website stores on a computer or a mobile device and generally on any device used for browsing the internet and visiting this website without harming the computer, its programs or its files. In other words, a cookie is an identifier, which is stored on the user’s device (not remotely) by the browser itself where, of course, the browser is set to do so or their storage has not been excluded. Please note that most browsers can be configured to automatically reject cookies in advance or notify the user when a cookie is stored. With cookies the website remembers the actions of the user and the user’s preferences (such as login password, language, font size and other display preferences) for a period of time, so users do no need to enter those preferences every time they visit the website or browse its pages. In addition, some cookies help in the analysis of the website use and, if the user encounters issues while browsing, can also allow for the customisation of the online ads and offers to the user’s interests and needs. Moreover, some cookie files are technically necessary for connecting to specific websites or providing an internet service. Other cookies are temporary (session cookies), i.e. they are kept on the device until the user leaves our website or closes the browser, at which time they are automatically deleted, others are permanent (persistent cookies) and remain on the device for a longer period (even for two years) or until deleted by the user. In principle, the lifespan of each cookie depends on its purpose and the browser’s settings. More information about cookies and their functionality is freely accessible at www.allaboutcookies.org. On our website we use the following types of cookies (with a lifespan of a few seconds to two years), whether they are our own or from our trusted partners, from whom we always require to apply the provisions of the GDPR and domestic law:

1) Required & Functional Cookies: these absolutely necessary cookies are essential for security reasons but also for the proper operation of a website, as they allow the browsing and use of its functions, the verification of identity in case that the user has logged in to the website, access to safe areas, registration forms and favourites list, use of shopping cart. They do not allow us to track user activity on other websites. They also allow us to analyse how the website is used and the interaction and user options on it (e.g. name, language or login area), and can also be used to remember various settings, such as font size and style, brightness and other configurations selected by the user, in order to offer, based on them, improved and personalised functions, experience on our website but also to avoid duplication of actions and messages (e.g. spash screen, host popups). Such cookies are: (a) those that are necessary for the identification of and/or keeping the content entered by the user during a connection (session) to the website (e.g. for filling out an online form by the user or for the registration of the user’s purchases), (b) those that are necessary for the authentication of the subscriber or user in the relevant services (e.g. when conducting a transaction via the Internet), (c) those that are installed for security purposes, (d) those with multimedia content, such as those needed to view a video; (e) those that are necessary for the technical load distribution in a connection to a website, (f) those that remember the selections regarding the display of a website, (g) those that are installed through additional programs (plug ins) on social networking websites and relate to the sharing of content between authenticated and connected members. Since these cookies are critical to certain features of our website, there is no opt-out option available for them, but the only option for the user is to configure the browser in such a way as to prevent their storage and automatically exclude them. However, in this case, some parts of the website will not work properly or effectively and the visitor will have fewer opportunities to use and enjoy the services offered.

2) Statistics Cookies: In some cases, we use third-party service providers to monitor and analyse statistical information about the use and context of the content used by our website users, resulting in the necessary cookies being set by the service providers, in order to monitor the visitors’ traffic and the performance of our advertisement. More specifically, they collect information such as how visitors use the website, the pages they visit more often, whether they receive error messages from webpages, etc., and they are either aggregate, anonymous information without identifying visitors, or concern each visitor separately (IP address). They are used exclusively to improve website performance and allow us to collect information about your use of our webpages, including the content you select while browsing our webpages, so that we can measure effectiveness and consumer interaction with our website and improve our webpages over time. These cookies may be provided to us by third party providers of analytical tools but are used only for the purposes related to our webpages. Please note that this information (cookies) provided to third parties by us does not include any other personal information of the user, but we can not rule out that the information collected may be linked to similar or other personal information collected elsewhere. Thus, as part of the commercial cooperation with advertising networks, cookies are collected that can monitor the user’s activities on the internet and the user’s browsing, information that aims to advertise products and services based on the user’s personal preferences. Finally, our website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”), which, through cookies, collects data about its use (e.g. IP address) that are stored and processed on Google servers outside Greece. Google uses this information to evaluate the use of the websites, report on the activities of users, and to provide other services related to their activities and the use of the Internet. Please note that Google may also transfer this information to third parties, where required by law, or when third parties process the information for Google. As officially affirmed by Google, it will not associate the IP address with any other data retained by it (more information can be found on its webpages regarding the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy). In any case, you can avoid the collection of data about your web usage by Google Analytics (cookies and IP addresses) by installing the browser add-on “Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On” or opt out of the collection of data, according to the features and options that Google offers each time.

3) Advertising  & Targeting  Cookies: these cookies are used to provide personalised content to the user and can be used to send targeted advertising or promotions, limit ad impressions or measure the effectiveness of an advertising campaign. They can also be used so that we can remember the websites the user has visited, to determine which online marketing channels are most effective. Such cookies can also be collected from social media (facebook, twitter, etc.) for interest-based advertising, which allow the display of personalised and ads related to the user’s preferences.

General Use of Personal Data in relation to Cookies

By using the above cookies, we may collect, process and use limited personal data of the user in a pseudonymous form, solely for advertising and market research purposes and adapt our website to the user’s interests, display or send information relating to us and inform about the products and services in which each user may be interested. Based on that technology, we may also receive reports from our service providers that include references to personal or aggregate data (which may include general demographic or usage characteristics). Please note that you can delete all cookies found already on your computer, as well as configure most browsers to prevent the installation of cookies; however, in this case, you may have to adjust some preferences yourself every time you visit a website, and some services may also not work. Your basic rights are the right of access to data, the right to have your data rectified or erased, the right to your data portability, the restriction of processing, your right to object processing and, at any time, withdraw your consent for the use of some or all of the cookies and, consequently, the processing of your data. In order to exercise your rights referred to above, you can submit your request to the business “TOP SIDE OF THE WORLD” at the e-mail address ESHOP@TOPSIDEOFTHEWORLD.COM, as well as lodge, in case you consider that the processing of your personal data violates the law applicable to the protection of personal data, a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (postal address 1-3 Kifissias Ave., GR-11523, Athens, tel.
